eMD.com came to our institution yesterday. I was impressed with their presentation. At no cost to the physician, they provide a web-based prescription writing and recordkeeping system. These folks are heavily funded, and the recently acquired AHT - developers of @rx.com, which I reviewed last fall.
eMD's interface remains klunky, but is improving soon, I am told. I think that this technology is worth looking into for many physicians. The appeal of the handheld - based Rx writing ( Allscripts, ( iScribe, and ( ephysician) platform needs to be weighed with the FUNCTION. Clearly a web-based application can do more than a handheld .. but few docs have computers in every exam room .. and most of us have an empty pocket for a handheld computer!
